Privacy policy

Last updated: October 2026 · applies to WerkTakt 1.0 and later
In short: WerkTakt collects no personal data. Everything you enter stays on your Mac. The app makes no network connections and has no account, no analytics, no tracking and no ads. That’s why WerkTakt is labelled “Data Not Collected” on the Mac App Store.

2. What the app processes – only on your Mac

Your entries

Time entries, notes, clients (including address and contact person if you add them), projects, rates, budgets and your sender details for timesheets are stored only in the app’s protected container (~/Library/Containers/at.feisoft.werktakt). They are never transferred to us or anyone else. We have no access to them.

Settings

Settings such as currency or idle threshold are stored in the app’s local preferences (UserDefaults).

Idle detection

While the timer runs, WerkTakt reads the time since your last input as provided by the system – a single number – to ask about time away. No keystrokes, mouse movements, screen content, windows or apps are recorded. You can turn this off under Settings → Inactivity.

Global shortcut

The ⌃⌥T shortcut is registered through the system’s hot key service. WerkTakt only learns that exactly this combination was pressed and needs no Accessibility access.

Backups and exports

Backups (.werktakt), CSV files and PDF timesheets are only written to folders you choose. If you choose a folder in iCloud Drive or another cloud service, your Mac transfers those files to that provider under its privacy terms (e.g. Apple’s for iCloud). WerkTakt itself transfers nothing. Automatic backups older than 30 days are deleted from the chosen folder.

3. Purchase on the Mac App Store

Purchase, payment and download are handled by Apple. We receive no personal data about you, only aggregated sales figures. The Apple Privacy Policy applies.

4. Crash reports

Only if you agreed in System Settings (Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements) to share analytics with app developers, Apple provides us with anonymised crash reports. They contain technical information (e.g. macOS version, device type, program state at the crash) but no content from WerkTakt and cannot identify you. We use them only to fix bugs (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

5. Support requests

If you email us, we only use your details to reply (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete them once no longer needed, unless statutory retention obligations apply. Please don’t send exports containing client data unless we ask for them.

6. Deletion

All data is on your Mac, so you’re in full control: delete entries in the app. To remove everything, quit WerkTakt, delete the app and the folder ~/Library/Containers/at.feisoft.werktakt, and any backups in your chosen folder.

7. Children

WerkTakt is intended for adults tracking work time and collects no data from children either.

8. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR). Contact office@feisoft.at. You may lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (www.dsb.gv.at) or your local supervisory authority.

9. Changes

If a future version adds features that process data (such as optional iCloud sync), we will update this policy and the App Store information beforehand.
